Facts about Aussiedoodles

1.) History of aussiedoodles:

The aussiedoodles are a mix between the Poodles and the Australian Shepherds. Unlike its name, the Australian Shepherds did not originate in Australia, rather it originated in the US in the 1990s to the 2000s.

In this time frame, the breeders wanted to combine the hypoallergenic properties and intelligence of a poodle and the protective nature of an Australian Shepherd. That is how and from where the aussiedoodles came into existence.

2.) Size of aussiedoodles: Aussiedoodles grow from 10 to 15 inches in height.

3.) Weight of aussiedoodles: The weight of an aussiedoodle will vary from 25 to 70 pounds.

4.) Lifespan of an aussiedoodle: The aussiedoodles live upto 13 years with good care and maintenance.

5.) Personality of an aussiedoodle:

Aussiedoodles are goofy and enthusiastic like the Australian Shepherds and intelligent and trainable like their other poodle parents.

They love being around their owners and they inherited their poodle parent’s predisposition to entertain and make the surrounding happy.

They are generally friendly towards other pets and dogs and love to play with them. But like their Australian Shepherd parents they can get irritated or agitated suddenly. So, be watchful while they are socializing around.

6.) Temperament of aussiedoodles:

Despite their happy nature, aussiedoodles can really get bored quite easily. They can also get destructive if not attended when they require it.

Without proper attention and care they can become aggressive and develop habits such as biting, barking, growling, digging, etc.

Are aussiedoodles good family dogs?

Aussiedoodles are great family dogs thanks to their poodle nature for being affectionate, friendly and trainable.

But they are also suspicious towards strangers and might not act friendly with them owing to their Aussie nature.

But they can be trained to perform any act of your choice if you give them the time and be patient.

Do aussiedoodles serve as good guard dogs?

Aussiedoodles fall under the category of herding doodle breeds that are known for their watchful and protective nature.

They are very sensitive to the change in their surroundings and will generally warn their owners of any impending danger by barking continuously. They will remain alert while you enjoy your sleep in order to protect you.

But, that is all they can do!

They will only bark to make you aware of the danger and will not likely jump upon or bite the intruder if the situation demands so.

So, aussiedoodles will definitely serve as great watch dogs but not that great guard dogs who will play upon his own life to save you!
